The Corvette Club of Illinois was founded by five couples in the summer of 1970. Two of the club's charter members
are still active in the club. We currently have approximately  200 members.

Club meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Sullivan-Parkhill Automotive Inc., 440 West Anthony Drive in Champaign, IL.  We invite you to stop in and chat with us.

The Corvette Club of Illinois has been a member of the National Council of Corvette Clubs since its establishment.

The members of the Corvette Club of Illinois are very active in local car shows, cruise-ins, swap meets, trips, raising money for local charities and many other activities.

Officers

Club Officers are active club members who donate their time and energy to provide direction for the club.
Officer elections are held in November.

Doug Hanner joined the Corvette Club of Illinois in 1973 after buying his first Corvette at just 20 years old. It was a
1965 396 Coupe, which he purchased from his brother-in-law for $1,650. Doug and his wife, Delora, owned this 'vette for 12 years and Delora drove it to work except in the winter. In 1974, Doug was elected president and has been president every year except 1985 and 1986 because he sold his car and decided not to run for office until he bought another 'vette. He purchased his second 1965 Coupe in 1986. Doug has owned a total  of 7 Corvettes and currently he and Delora own 3 'vettes. Doug loves being a member of the club.  His best memories are of the GREAT people that have been part of the club throughout the 40 plus years that he and Delora have been in the club.

In September, 2016 Chuck and Brenda attended the Corvette Funfest for the first time with friends from their home area who owned two Corvettes (a C-3 and a C-5).  It gave Chuck a great opportunity to see the various models and colors that were available and he came away liking the look of the C-6 Grand Sport.  We purchased a 2013 Night Race Blue Metallic Grand Sport at a dealership in Paris, Kentucky the following week.   This is the only Corvette we have owned.  We joined the club in 2017 and I became Treasurer in 2022. The club was looking for a volunteer and I always enjoyed working with numbers so it was a good fit.  Both Chuck and I have enjoyed the club activities especially the Corvette Adventures and have enjoyed getting to know the members of the club.

Ray Quinlan
Ray Quinlan was a member of the Corvette Club of Illinois and the first lifetime member of the National Corvette  Museum. A dedicated Corvette enthusiast who shared the passion and love of Corvettes with everyone he met and knew, passed away on September 14, 2003 in his hometown of Champaign, IL.

Ray used his passion to become an instrumental part of the mission to build the National Corvette Museum. When the idea of a Corvette Library and Archives was first proposed, Ray volunteered to donate his 1953 Corvette if the plans were expanded to also incorporate a Corvette museum. Today, every visitor passing through the halls of the NCM hears the story of how Ray’s donation helped give rise to the facility. His ‘53 Corvette is still on display and will continue to live on as a representation of not only the first of Corvettes, but a tribute to an NCM member who truly loved sharing all he had and knew about the great American sportscar.

Ray attended many NCM events as long as he was able. He was part of the 2002 historic motorama that kicked off the year-long 50th celebration activities and represented the 1957 Corvette in the traveling showcase.  Everyone came to love and admire Ray, as  he was always willing to share his life experiences and stories on our many journeys,  keeping us laughing and smiling all the way home.
